It doesn’t matter what material your tray is made of or what state it is currently in – with a little bit of love and a couple of coats of spray paint in your chosen colour, it can look shiny and new again.

This crafty idea will take you a matter of minutes and we’ve made it even easier with this step-by-step guide below…

STEP 1.

Move the tray to be painted to a well-ventilated area and place on top of newspaper or a dust sheet. Mask off any areas of the object not to be painted. Protect the surrounding area with additional dust sheets or newspaper.

STEP 2.

Ensure surfaces to be painted are free from loose paint, rust, wax, oil and grease and previously painted surfaces should be abraded to provide a key (rough surface). Unless you are painting with Rust-Oleum Universal Spray Paint, bare wood and metal should be primed with Rust-Oleum Surface Primer and bare plastic should be primed with Rust-Oleum Plastic Primer.

If the Universal range hasn’t got the colour you are after, our Painter’s Touch Spray Paint range has 38 shades to choose from.

STEP 3.

Hold the can approximately 30cm from the surface of the tray and spray in a steady back and forth motion, slightly overlapping with each stroke. For best results, whilst spraying, keep the can the same distance from the surface and keep the can in motion. Apply several light coats a few minutes apart.

STEP 4.

Leave to dry thoroughly et voilà ! Breakfast in bed it is…
