BOLD, SLICK AND MODERN HIGH GLOSS KITCHEN FINISHES ARE HERE TO STAY.

Take your existing kitchen cabinet doors and transform them with spray paint for a fraction of the price of replacing them.

Rust-Oleum Mode spray paint delivers this highly sought-after finish without the designer price tag.

Follow our simple instructions and achieve a flawless, factory-like finish on your cabinet doors and drawers…

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Sandpaper

RUST-OLEUM Mode Spray Paint

RUST-OLEUM Mode Primer

Dust Sheets / Newspaper

STEP 1.

If possible remove the cupboard doors from your kitchen and move them to a well-ventilated area and place on top of newspaper or a dust sheet.

Mask off any areas of the object not to be painted.

Protect the surrounding area with additional dust sheets or newspaper.

STEP 2.

Ensure surfaces to be painted are free from wax, oil and grease.

Fill any cracks and sand thoroughly, paying specific attention to any inconsistencies in the original finish or any rough areas.

For wooden surfaces, always sand in the direction of the wood grain.

If you’re painting over a piece of furniture with a smooth glossy finish (eg. a laminated surface or plastic) there is no need to sand this.

STEP 3.

Once any sanding has been done, wipe down with a damp cloth to remove all the dust from the piece(s).

Apply a coat of Rust-Oleum Mode Primer to your doors and drawer fronts.

Make sure you allow this to dry for 12 hours.

STEP 4.

With Rust-Oleum Mode Spray Paint, hold the can approximately 25cm from the surface of the object and spray in a steady side to side motion, slightly overlapping with each stroke.

For best results, whilst spraying, keep the can the same distance from the surface and in motion.

Never try and cover your doors / drawers with the first coat of paint.

Apply two coats of paint allowing a minimum of 15 minutes between coats.

Leave them for around 60 minutes after the last coat is applied to ensure they are dry before handling.

Always read the instructions on the back of the can.

BONUS TIP.

If you make a mistake or have dripping or bubbling, don’t panic; you can correct just about any error with sandpaper.

Simply wait until the paint is dry (allow around 60 minutes) and sand these back, then reapply the top coat.
