Product Description
OWATROL®-GLV is a highly flexible, anti-corrosive coating that possesses the deep penetrating and adhesion properties of MARINE OIL*. OWATROL®-GLV will restore rusted and corroded surfaces above the waterline to give lasting protection and greatly prolong the life of the treated surface. OWATROL®-GLV has excellent abrasion resistance, withstands chemical attack and is ideal in aggressive climatic conditions where a high resistant finish is necessary.
Properties
- Excellent resistance against the effects of the weather.
- Safe to use in confined areas – Does not emit any dangerous fumes.
- Withstand temperatures up to 175°C (347°F) once cured.
- Excellent light and heat reflecting properties.
- Expels moisture and air from rusted surfaces – Stops and stabilises rust without chemical reaction.
- MARINE OIL* based (OWATROL® OIL*).
- Easy application.
- Highly elastic – Will not crack, peel or blister.
Surface Preparation
- Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of oil, grease, grime and other surface contamination.
- Remove all loose and flaking rust and old paint back to a sound surface and edge.
- Feather in any sharp edges.
- Clean surfaces thoroughly using a suitable non-oxidising solvent e.g. Acetone, White-Spirit.
Application
Stir can well before and during use. Do not thin.
New Surfaces exc’ Aluminium Surfaces
- Abrade surfaces with 60-120 grit paper. Fibreglass 180-220 grit paper.
- For inaccessible areas use a liquid sander e.g. diluted OWAYELL* (Consult us). Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
- Prime new metal and galvanised surfaces with 1 coat of MARINE OIL* or OWATROL®-C.I.P.* and allow to dry 24 hours.
- Apply 1 or 2 coats of OWATROL®-GLV.
- For new metal surfaces subject to aggressive climatic conditions apply 2 coats.
New Aluminium Surfaces
- Abrade surfaces with 60-120 grit paper compatible with Aluminium or Sandblast.
- For inaccessible areas use a liquid sander e.g. diluted OWAYELL* (Consult us). Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
- Apply 1 or 2 coats of OWATROL®-GLV allowing drying time between coats.
Clean, Lightly Rusted Metal
Apply 2 coats of OWATROL®-GLV allowing drying time between coats.
Old Severely Rusted Surfaces
- Apply wet on wet applications of MARINE OIL* until rust is fully saturated and allow to dry. Saturation is indicated by a uniform glossy appearance to the surface when MARINE OIL* is dry.
- Apply 2 coats of OWATROL®-GLV allowing drying time between coats.
Previously Coated Surfaces
- Spot prime all exposed metal with MARINE OIL or OWATROL®-C.I.P.* depending on severity of rust and allow to dry.
- Apply OWATROL®-GLV to primed areas to bring level with existing finish, allowing drying time between coats.
- Apply 1 or 2 coats of OWATROL®-GLV over entire area; allowing drying time between coats.
