Owatrol E-B (Emulsa-Bond), Mix-In Bonding Primer And First Coat Of Paint In One

Product Description

OWATROL® E-B is a high penetrating, stir-in paint additive for use in water-based masonry or interior paints, to help alleviate peeling problems on sound but chalky, powdery or porous surfaces. OWATROL® E-B provides a bonding primer that stirs in easily, and does not alter the original colour. It offers the time-saving benefit of a primer and first coat of paint in one application, thereby eliminating the need to separately prime and stabilise the surface.

Properties

• Provides a bonding primer and a first flat coat of masonry or interior paint in one.
• Stabilises chalky, powdery or porous surfaces and reduces peeling problems.
• Maximises adhesion between the first and second coats.
• Improves adhesion of water-based paints to non-porous surfaces – plastic, glass…
• Re-coatable after 4 hours.
• Improves durability of the finish.

Surface Preparation

• Prepare surface as per instructions on the paint can.
• Remove all loose and flaking material.
• Treat any organic growth with a fungicidal solution or a mix of 1 part water to 1 part chlorine bleach (allow solution to sit for 15 minutes), rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
• Ensure surfaces to be painted are clean, dry and free of dirt, grease, grime and any other contamination.

Application

General Directions:

• Stir paint thoroughly and pour in to a paint scuttle or large container.
• Add OWATROL® E-B to paint stirring all the time.
• Continuing stirring to ensure the paint and OWATROL® E-B are thoroughly mixed together. If paint thickens add enough water to return paint to its original consistency (approx 10% by volume).
• Apply OWATROL® E-B/ paint mix in normal manner.
• Allow to dry.
• Apply additional coats of paint without OWATROL® E-B.

Note: Do not apply further applications of paint if the OWATROL® E-B/paint mix feels soft or tacky.

Restrictions

• Only use OWATROL® E-B in the first coat of paint.
• Do not add OWATROL® E-B to water-based gloss paints for one coat work.
