Product Description

SHED & FENCE PAINT is a premium finish for new wood and for recoating old applications that are not peeling or flaking and in a good condition. SHED & FENCE PAINT is fortified with OWATROL® E-B* to provide unsurpassed adhesion to vertical and horizontal exterior substrates where other products ultimately fail or require extensive preparation and priming.

Surface Preparation

New wood surfaces

• Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dirt, grease, grime and mildew.
• After cleaning, allow wood to dry 48 hours or until it has reached a moisture content of 19% or less before finishing.
• New wood often has a hard shiny surface known as mill glaze that prevents maximum penetration; this and the moisture content of new wood prevents the proper adhesion of any coating. Initially, apply a coat of SEASONITE®*, and allow wood to weather a minimum 6 months. After 6 months apply SHED & FENCE PAINT.

Weathered wood surfaces

• Uncoated wood surfaces that have weathered longer than six months require thorough cleaning and must be free of dirt, grease, grime and mildew before applying a finish. Use NET-TROL®* (according to label instructions), along with a pressure washer or stiff bristle brush to remove the loose fibre, dirt and other surface contaminants. If necessary sand the wood (100 grit).
• After cleaning, allow wood to dry 48 hours or until it has reached a moisture content of 19% or less before finishing.

Previously coated surfaces

• Sand or scrape to remove all loose, flaking or peeling finish.
• If necessary strip with DILUNETT®* and neutralise with NET-TROL®*.
• Surfaces must be free of dirt, grease, grime and mildew.
• After cleaning, allow wood to dry 48 hours or until it has reached a moisture content of 19% or less before finishing.

Note: Cedar, Hardwoods and other woods rich in tannins, may darken with DILUNETT®*. If this occurs brighten with NET-TROL®* before proceeding. On Oak and Chestnut, manually or mechanically sand the wood, dust off and wash with NET-TROL®* to clean.

Application

• Apply a coat of SHED & FENCE PAINT avoiding heavy application.
• Allow to dry 3-4 hours.
• Apply a second coat.
• When applying by spray, always back-brush or back-roll immediately after application to ensure uniformity of colour, coverage and penetration.
